It's Not a Game: A series of anti sports betting PSAs.
Sports betting is a habit that could get very dangerous for some but is treated by many as more of a game than a vice. The scope of the work for this project was to create a series of public service announcements for a non profit organization. The PSAs had to be designed as part of a series with one cohesive message and had to contain either a metaphor or advertising appeal. The final ad designs had to be applied across various mediums such as billboards, bus stop ads, social media, etc.



The Outcome
I chose to make my PSA series for responsibleplay.org, a non-profit organization that aims to educate the public about the dangers of sports betting. The chosen slogan "It's Not a Game" is meant to bring people back to reality and remind them that regardless of how normalized sports betting has become, it's not a game and there can be very serious consequences if it's not done responsibly. The concept I chose for the PSA campaign was the four elements: water, wind, earth, and fire. The elements are essential to bring balance to life and I wanted to show the dangers that they can present when that balance is disrupted, which was then tied to certain facts about the negative consequences of sports betting and the dangers that can come from not having proper balance when betting. The ads are designed to be visually striking and to imply a direct correlation between sports betting sites and these very serious and very real consequences.
