Saint Pierre Le Vignoble: Sip the Saintly Elegance

More than just a winery, Saint Pierre will be sure to provide an authentic feel for the charm and history of its island, nestled in the middle of the St-Lawrence River. The scope of the work for this project was to create a brand identity and wine label for Saint Pierre that would properly capture their history, tradition and what they represent as a winery. The project included the creation of a logo along with a vision for how the brand could present itself and a memorable wine label design that could be used across their wide range of wine products. The deliverables also included a wine box design and a short promotional video showcasing their new identity.

Saint Pierre Le Vignoble was born from two passions: the soil and winemaking. While initially dedicated to growing berries, for more than ten years, “Ferme La Rosacée” changed its vocation to become a vineyard in 2003. Determined to take root in Île d’Orléans, this “flower among the waters”, Christiane and Jacques set out to combine their two passions and to extract this exceptional winegrowing and winemaking potential of the Orleanian terroir to its fullest.

Located at the entrance of Île d’Orléans, Saint Pierre is one of the island's six municipalities, all of which are named after saints, reminding us of the island's strong connection to Catholicism. The vineyard will be sure to provide an authentic feel for the charm and history of the island, nestled in the middle of the St-Lawrence River, just east of Quebec City.

The Outcome

My vision for this project was to create a culturally rich brand identity that would properly capture the historical, geographical and religious influence of the winery. With a logo proposal containing a strong geographical influence, I decided to lean heavily into this aspect for the wine label, with a vision for a label that would be based off a snippet of the map of the island and it's surrounding areas. The part of the label with the logo is the western portion of Île d’Orléans which is where Saint Pierre is located, the rest of the label is then a silhouette of a map of the surrounding areas including Quebec City. There is a cut out in the label where the Saint Lawrence river would be, allowing the wine to be seen through the label, giving the impression of the river flowing around the island. I designed three labels, one for each variation of wine that Saint Pierre produces: red, rosé and white. The labels could be used across their entire range of wine products. The colours: gold, cream, yellow and royal blue are colours often associated with royalty and religion. The fonts include a range of luxurious serif and sans-serif fonts to give the brand a sense of elegance and sophistication.
